Religion in the United States is supposed to be free and we can do whatever we want as long as it does not go against amendments and other laws. This is constitutionally guaranteed in religious clauses of the first amendment. One situation related to the religion rights that is being questioned heavily is the burning of the Koran in Florida. A local church in Florida is deciding to have a day dedicated to burning of the Koran. There are many reactions to this situation. The burning of the Koran is extremely offensive to Muslims and there intends to be a outraged reaction to this nondenominational church's Koran burning. The video below goes in depth of this event in Gainesville, Florida. There are two main clauses in the amendment in regards to freedom of religion which are the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. The Establishment Clause states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". This basically means that citizens of the U.S. have a right to their own religion to practice and the government can not give a standard of a certain religion to worship. The "Free Exercise Clause" states that Congress can not "prohibit the free exercise" of religious practices. This means religion can be practiced at all times and government can not hinder this. I feel freedom of religion applied to the United States is a great idea and should not ever be in consideration of being eliminated.
I agree with everything that you have stated, and have concluded that freedom of religion is just as an important problem as racism and should be addressed as so. Just like racism it still occurs whether it is a secret or it is very vocal. I feel their should be revisions made on the constitution to increase the security on these issues. I feel you did a good job with this blog and you had plenty of evidence to back up yor argument.
